Rokk3r Labs Teams Up With the Nelson Foundation to Present the Thrive Seminar, Including Live Q&A with Celebrity Entrepreneur Daymond John
Miami, FL, August 26, 2015 – Rokk3r Labs today announced that it will be taking part in the upcoming Thrive Seminar run by the Nelson Foundation, an organization that provides mentorship, education and investment opportunities for entrepreneurs from underrepresented communities.
The event will take place from 6-9 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Lincoln Colony Theater, 1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach.
The startup scene in the Miami area is blooming, and a recent Forbes article predicted that the “Magic City” was on course to being the next entrepreneurial city in the U.S. The event aims to boost Miami’s image as a startup hotbed and provide the opportunity for more than 150 local entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas and compete for a $10,000 cash prize provided by the Knight Foundation.
Rokk3r Labs Co-founder and CEO, Nabyl Charania, will be part of an all-star line up of CEOs and angel investors who will form the judges panel. Other panellists include Brett David, owner of Prestige Imports; Will Stute, partner in McDermott Will & Emery LLP law firm; Bernard Stewart, former ESPN executive and CEO and Managing Partner of Bart World Communications Ltd.; and Dawn Dickson, founder and CEO of Flat Out of Heels.
The expert judges will choose from three finalists from the Miami area with the best pitches and business plans. The event will feature a live Q&A session with celebrity entrepreneur, angel investor and host of ABC’s “Shark Tank,” Daymond John. John will share his life experiences with attendees and offer practical advice and tips about how to make it to the top in the world of business.
Rokk3r Labs already share an affiliation with ABC’s “Shark Tank”, as Rodolfo Saccoman, founder of AdMobilize, a Rokk3r Labs portfolio company, has previously appeared on and received investment from the hit TV show.
“We are excited to participate in a startup event where Miami entrepreneurs can receive effective and impactful feedback from business leaders across various industries,” said Charania. “As an ecosystem as a whole, we are ready to support entrepreneurship and show Daymond John why there’s so much buzz about Miami’s startups and its entrepreneurs.”
Aside from offering budding entrepreneurs the chance to compete, the event also creates fantastic networking opportunities and promises to boast attendees who are industry leaders in the Miami business scene and from much further afield.
“We are partnering with Rokk3r Labs because they are driving force for entrepreneurship and assisting entrepreneurs to build their dreams,” said Al Nelson, Founder of The Nelson Foundation. “Rokk3r Labs knows how to find entrepreneurs, pair them with investing and support ventures with the necessary tools to succeed. It is a perfect fit for Thrive Seminar to partner with Rokk3r Labs.”
